HAB Weekday Ride Out Wednesday 6th April

DOWNHOLME VIEWING POINT

Meet Ripley car park 09.15am for a 09.30am start.
The route this month takes us north from Ripley, through Kirkby Malzeard, Grewelthorpe and on to Masham.
Coffee stop: Masham
After coffee we continue northwest, passing Thornton Watlass, Thornton Steward Reservoir then taking the A6108, turning right at Downholme to pick up the spectacular road high above Swaledale to Hudswell and on to Richmond.
East now through Richmond and Brompton-on-Swale, crossing the A1(M) to Scorton then right on A167 before taking a left in 1/2 mile towards Yarm.
Lunch: Yarm High Street – plenty of choice food-wise to take our pick from.
After lunch we head east on minor roads towards Stokesley, turning south through Great Broughton and to the ‘biker’s favourite’ B1257 on to Chop Gate before turning right to Hawnby and the Peak Scar Road towards the A170.
Left on the A170, turning right soon after towards West End, Yearsley and on through Easingwold. Now heading east, over the A19 to Raskelf, Helperby, Thornton Bridge and another favourite, the minor road through Milby and on to Boroughbridge.
Route ends at Morrisons, Boroughbridge.

Total mileage: 118 miles approx.
Ride leader: David Haywood with Trevor Cooper riding tail-end.
A mixed weather forecast at the moment, hence the choice of a slightly shorter route than normal. Having said that, it’s a very pleasant ride and I’m sure we’ll have a great day out.
Look forward to seeing you in Ripley.
